Baroda Carpet

BARODA CARPET
A famous carpet designed as an offering to the tomb of Mahomet at Medina. It was wrought by the master craft artists, skilled embroiderers and weavers of Baroda, who were three years (1866-1869) in its production. It is a species of embroidered jewellery or a superb tissue of pearls, rubies, sapphires and diamonds. Of tapestry formation, closely resembling terry weaving in the ground sections.
